Lisa’s
musical back ground began at an early age mainly
from listening to her father’s band rehearsals.
At age 12, she began
dreaming of having her own band and her own sound.
She then started singing to songs on the radio and
taught herself to play guitar. As she sat for hours
listening to her father’s wide collection
of records, she developed a love for all styles
of music. Her fathers band “The Star Lighters”
was a Big Band that played EVERYTHING from Big Band,
Country to Latin and Musica Tropical. Never losing
sight of her dreams she stayed focused and thus,
her band, CANTA- Rhythm & Brass was born. Fronting
this incredibly versatile and talented 10-Piece
band is truly a dream come true for her.
Lisa’s sultry, rich and
powerful vocals move from Blues, Jazz, Rock, Latin,
Gospel and Country effortlessly. Inspired by her
music heroes such as Aretha Franklin, Wynonna Judd,
Patsy Cline, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Gloria
Estefan, and her Dad Frank Ramirez., this versatile
talent has a way of capturing an audience and has
the ability to bring people of all cultures together
as one through music.
1999 Lisa released her debut
CD entitled “When Two Worlds Collide” with
the help of her father Frank Ramirez and Producer
Charlie Rodriguez. The debut CD revealed Lisa’s
love of all styles of music. She incorporated Country
Swing, Tejano and Motown all with a Big Band sound.
The CD was well received and played regularly on
local radio KICK-FM, KNON and KNTU-in Denton Texas.
It was also nominated for Best Latin & Tejano
CD at the Dallas Observer Music Awards.
2001 Lisa signed on with Premier
Talent in Dallas and stepped away from the microphone
and in front of the camera. Appearing in International
commercials for Texas Lottery, Lays Potato Chips
and Pizza Hut. Lisa also appeared in small rolls
on NBC-Made for TV Movie “Saving
Jessica Lynch” and CBS- “Dallas
Reunion” and was the featured artist on local
TV segment La Vida with her band
CANTA R&B. Though she enjoyed acting she discovered
singing and making music was her true passion.
2004
Lisa followed up with a second CD “Come
As You Are” only this time Lisa tapped
into her spiritual and creative side. Writing 2
of the 10 tracks,” Hear Me Calling”
& “Nueva Cancion”. Lisa found peace
and joy in using her gift of music to bring glory
to God. True to herself and her roots Lisa mixed
Latin, Rock, Reggae, Contemporary and Traditional
Gospel together all on one CD that will warm your
heart and touch your soul.
